Have you ever wondered how to bathe a turtle? Turtles should not be immersed in water like any other pet, but you can "brush" them to remove algae residues or other dirt particles from their shells.
Steps
Step 1. Prepare a container with warm water
Get an old toothbrush that you no longer use. An electric toothbrush head would be ideal.
Step 2. Remove the turtle from its habitat and locate the dirty areas of the carapace
Step 3. Soak the toothbrush in warm water
Step 4. Gently scrub the soiled areas with the old toothbrush
Wet the shell with your hand and rub it gently. Make sure you clean the cracks well of any algae residue. If your turtle loses scales, "" don't "" scrub them excessively. Instead, drop them naturally.
Step 5. After removing most of the algae, gently rinse the turtle and return it to its natural habitat
Step 6. Now you can admire your beautiful clean turtle
Advice
- Make sure you don't brush the turtle's skin!
- Always have fresh water on hand for your turtle. It will help keep you clean for longer.
- When cleaning the carapace with the toothbrush, hold the turtle from the back of the shell with one hand and gently scrub it with the other. For larger turtles, place them in a container to limit their movement and fill it with a little warm water.
Warnings
- Use only water; do not add soap or detergents.
- Due to the danger of salmonella poisoning, do not wash the turtle in a kitchen or bathroom sink. Any container you use for your food or hygiene should not be used to clean the turtle.
