The Ouija board is a flat wooden surface on which the letters A to Z, the numbers 0 to 9 and the symbols of the sun and the moon are shown. A movable indicator, or "planchette", is used to obtain supposed answers from the souls of the deceased. In popular culture these tables (very popular in the 1920s) are considered a "spiritual door" used to contact the dead; however, the only proof of this are the testimonials of those who used it. There is no scientific evidence. You decide: are you willing to try it?
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Creating the Atmosphere
Step 1. Find a friend
Technically, the Ouija board can also be used alone, but it is best to do it with at least one other person present. Especially if it is a dark and stormy night.
The ideal would be two. The more people there are, the more excitement there will be and the spirit would risk getting confused. If you really want to be more than two, try to keep the others calm and respectful
Step 2. Create the right atmosphere
Before making contact with "the other side", create some atmosphere by dimming the lights, using candles, incense and burning sage.
- Timing has a lot to do with the Ouija board. Sometimes the board will be super responsive, other times it will feel asleep. It is best to try it at night or early in the morning.
- Eliminate all distractions. There should be no loud music, no TV set or children running around. A session requires your full attention to succeed.
- Turn off your cell phone! Receiving calls in the middle of a conversation with the spirit would interrupt the communication.
Step 3. Sit down
According to the original instructions for use, the board should be placed on the joined knees of the two participants, who should be "preferably a woman and a man".
- It is also okay to sit on a glass table or on the floor. The important thing is that everyone can see the board clearly and keep their fingers on the planchette (the pointer).
- Participants should stand on either side of the table, or on the straight side. Sometimes the planchette moves quickly and you have to clearly see and remember the letters indicated. Seeing the table upside down would risk confusing the message.
Part 2 of 3: Having the Right Mindset
Step 1. Be patient
Sometimes the table takes a few minutes to warm up. You may have to wait a while to get the answers. Do not give up.
- If the board appears to be asleep, try gently moving it in a circle and then resume.
- The planchette sometimes moves fast, sometimes slowly. Don't be upset if getting a message takes a long time. Wait, or stop the session and resume later.
Step 2. Be polite
If you have found a very communicative spirit, talk to him! Be friendly. This will encourage him to cooperate.
You may not get the answers you want. It is neither the spirit nor the table's fault. Getting angry or violent will only ruin the atmosphere
Step 3. Simply start
Don't bombard the spirit with questions about your next history check. Start with a simple, normal conversation.
-
Ask your first questions so that the answers can be short and easy.
- How many spirits are there in this room?
- Are you a good spirit?
- What's your name?
Step 4. Be careful what you ask for
The last thing you want is to stay up all night thinking about your impending death. If you don't want to know the answer to a certain question, don't ask either.
- Don't ask silly questions. "What did Marco say to his sister about me?" it could be something the spirit has no intention of wasting time on. Not to mention how long it would take to piece together the answer!
- Don't ask for a sign of his presence. You would just get in trouble. Furthermore, the spirit with which you are communicating may not necessarily be able to do so. Better to limit yourself to the answers on the Ouija board.
- Don't believe everything the table tells you. If he tells you that you are going to die in 10 minutes, don't run into the street in a panic and get run over. In that case it would not be the prophecy to be right, but you would be the one to make it come true.
Part 3 of 3: How to Use
Step 1. Choose a medium
Assign a person to ask the questions. This will make things easier and prevent the spirits from getting confused.
However, all participants must be able to ask questions. Choose the questions in turn and have the medium ask them
Step 2. Put your fingers on the planchette
This should be on the "G" at the beginning.
Ask all participants to gently place their index and middle fingers on the planchette. Slowly move the planchette in a circle to warm the table and focus on what you want to ask. Keep your fingers firmly on the planchette, but without using too much force; if you hold it too rigidly, it will have a hard time moving
Step 3. Choose a starting rite
Anything is fine: a prayer, a welcome formula, or even jewels scattered around.
- Have the medium greet the spirit and tell him that only positive energy is welcome.
- Surround the table with jewelry or other objects. If you are looking to communicate with the spirit of a deceased relative, get something of his or her own.
Step 4. Ask a question
These should be simple questions at first, and then get more complex as you go.
- If the spirit says it is bad, it is best to stop the session and resume later.
- If you start getting rude or vulgar responses, don't return them with the same attitude. Say goodbye to the spirit and close the table.
Step 5. Focus
For best results, all participants should free their minds and focus on the question of the moment.
- All participants must sit in a serious and respectful manner. If there is someone laughing or asking silly questions, kick them out of the room.
- When the planchette begins to move, it is best for someone to take it upon themselves to transcribe the responses, as they can sometimes be lengthy or to interpret.
Step 6. Watch her move
Sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes slowly; it may not even move at all. But if everyone is alert and focused, the planchette should start moving.
Make sure no one is driving the planchette. If it is clear that someone is moving it on purpose, they must stop participating in the session. Each participant should put the same pressure on the pointer
Step 7. Close the table
When you have finished the session, it is very important to dismiss the spirit. You wouldn't like to be dumped suddenly, would you?
-
Have the medium say that you must finish the session and move the planchette to the word "GOODBYE".
Of course, if you have found a spirit that is enjoyable to converse with, you can say "Goodbye!" and wait for him to greet you in turn via the planchette
- Before putting the board away, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. This will keep it clean and prevent the accumulation of dust and moisture.
Advice
- If you feel fear or feel that the session is getting out of hand, you can interrupt by pointing the planchette to "Goodbye" and say, "Now we go. Rest in peace."
- Light a white candle. White in witchcraft is used for protection and purity; it is true that black is used for energy, but also for evil and black magic.
- The sun and moon serve to identify the type of spirit that has contacted you. If he points to the sun, he is a good spirit; if it points to the moon, it is bad. If an evil spirit happens to you, thank him and dismiss him. When the planchette moves to "Goodbye", it means that the spirit is gone.
- Many people will tell you that buying a Ouija board is just a waste of money, and it's best to make your own. If you want to make one, remember to write: yes, no, the numbers from 0 to 9, the letters from A to Z and Goodbye. On the side you can also add other words like maybe or sometimes. Obviously you will find some ready-made on the internet.
- To avoid invoking an evil spirit, place a silver coin on the table. This way you won't be bothered by evil spirits or demons.
- Before starting a session, all of you stand in a circle, take each other by the hand and say: "Let there be no evil forces or demons".
- It will only work if your mind is open; don't expect results if you are full of negative energy and don't believe these things.
- If the planchette repeatedly goes to number 8, the spirit is angry: this number is considered unlucky.
Warnings
- Do not use the Ouija board while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is more likely to attract negative entities.
- Before using your Ouija board, do a Google search to read the stories of those who have tried it and decide if you really want to connect with the afterlife.
- The existence of ghosts, demons and supernatural beings is a matter of debate. Don't take everything for real.
- NEVER ask questions about your own death or that of someone else.
- NEVER ask the spirit to prove its existence; this could get him into your home.
- The use of the Ouija board is strictly forbidden for children under 8 years of age.
