Reduce that pile of clothes on the bed in no time! Try one of these simple methods for folding a shirt. If you follow these simple steps, you will be able to fold a shirt without even a wrinkle!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Fold Base
Step 1. Choose a shirt
This fold will work with those with or without a collar.
Step 2. Hold the shirt from your shoulders, facing you, squeezing it between your thumb and forefinger
Step 3. Fold the sleeves back using the other three fingers
Step 4. Lay it face down on a flat surface (you can also try to keep it on your lap), and make sure the sides of the shirt are folded about 2cm
Step 5. Take the shirt by the collar and fold it back until it matches the hem
Step 6. Admire your neatly folded t-shirt
Method 2 of 3: A More Complicated Crease
Step 1. Hold the shirt by the collar with one hand on each shoulder, with the front of the shirt facing you
Step 2. Use your thumbs to tighten the collar on both sides
Step 3. Use your thumbs to measure
You will need to consider about 2cm of fabric on each side of the collar to mark where to fold.
Step 4. When you have found the crease mark, use your other three fingers to fold the sides of the shirt, including the sleeves, backwards
You should now have a rectangular shape.
Step 5. Take the base of the shirt and fold it up about 7-8cm
Step 6. Fold the remaining part of the shirt up
The first fold should touch the collar.
Step 7. Turn the shirt over and you are done
Method 3 of 3: Side Fold
Step 1. Hold the shirt in front of you and fold it in half lengthwise
The sleeves should fit together.
Step 2. Fold the sleeves back towards the collar
Step 3. Fold the hem of the shirt towards the bottom of the sleeves
Step 4. Fold the top of the shirt, collar and folded sleeves, down over the already folded hem
Step 5. Put the shirt in the closet
Advice
- To begin folding it may help to lay the shirt on a flat surface.
- Folding the shirts as soon as they dry will reduce the likelihood of unwanted creases and wrinkles.
