There is no single type of skin. You need to know your skin to take care of it effectively, keeping in mind the category to which it belongs. Understanding what type of skin you have is the first step, as well as the most important, to treat it and make it perfect by choosing the most suitable products.
Steps
Step 1. Wash your face
Use a mild cleanser and pat your skin dry. Take off your make-up. With this routine you will eliminate excess sebum and dirt that has accumulated on the skin during the day, refreshing it. Don't wash your face too often.
Step 2. Wait an hour
This period of time is used to allow the skin to return to its natural state, which can vary according to the type of skin. Act normally and do not touch your face during this hour.
Step 3. Clean your face with a tissue
Pay close attention to the T-zone which includes the forehead, nose and chin.
Step 4. Determine your skin type
It can be: normal, oily, dry and mixed.
- Skin normal it appears neither greasy nor flaky. To the touch it is smooth and soft. If you have normal skin, consider yourself lucky!
- Skin greasy it will stain the handkerchief with grease. Typically, it has a shiny appearance, while the pores are large and visible.
- If you have skin dry, you will feel it tense and it will be flaky. The pores are often small and not very visible. For this type of skin, hydration is essential.
- Skin mixed is the most common. It has characteristics belonging to the three types of skin just described. Typically, it is oily in the T-zone but normal or dry on the rest of the face.
Step 5. You need to be aware of any problems your skin may have
Typically, there are two main categories to define skin problems:
- Skin sensitive does not react well to products for normal skin which can cause redness, itching or rashes.
- Skin prone to acne it tends to form pimples and blackheads, especially if it is oily skin. In this case, it is worth using acne products.
Advice
- One of the most important things for the skin to do is keep it healthy.
- The T-zone includes the forehead, nose and chin. It is called in this way because it has the shape that resembles a T.
- Do not wash your face too often, otherwise you will make the skin dry by removing the natural oils that protect it. Do not do this more than 3 times a day and remember to apply a moisturizer immediately afterwards.
- Drink lots of water! If it is dehydrated, the skin tends to produce more sebum to lubricate itself.
- The skin is part of your body and, like any other organ, is affected by the environment, the products you use, stress, nutrition, lifestyle, and so on. All of these factors can change your skin type.
- During puberty and menopause, the body suffers from hormonal changes that inevitably affect the appearance of the skin.
- Use a purifying toner or cleanser that balances the pH so your skin will return to its natural state immediately and you don't have to wait an hour.
- Once you understand what type of skin you have, try exfoliating it. Rub it in to remove dead skin and unclogged pores. In some cases, the pores will appear smaller. Don't exfoliate your skin more than 2 or 3 times a week.
- Mature skin often requires more attention.
- Sometimes, rashes in the mouth and chin area are caused by periods. In these cases, use topical products.
