Vegans love to eat scones, or those tasty scones of Scottish origin that can be sweet, to be eaten for breakfast or with tea, or savory, to accompany a meal. Vegan scones are created using plant-based butter and soy or rice milk.
Ingrediants
Servings: 8 scones
- 400 g of flour
- 170 g of Oats
- 2 g (half a teaspoon) of Bicarbonate
- 9, 5 g of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 170 g of sugar
- 115 g of cold Vegetable Butter
- 350 ml of Rice or Soy Milk
- 75 g of fresh or dried fruit for the filling
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil to grease the pan
Steps
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C
Grease a baking sheet with extra virgin olive oil.
Step 2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder and a pinch of salt
Step 3. Mix the sugar and vegan butter using your hands or a pastry blender
Knead the dough until it reaches a grainy, crumbly consistency.
Step 4. Create a fountain in the center of the dough and pour the milk into it
Stir until the ingredients are combined.
Step 5. Add the ingredients chosen to fill your dough and mix to mix them properly
For example, you can add blueberries to make fruit scones, or 50-60 g of cheddar and 2 tablespoons of dill to make tasty scones to enjoy as an accompaniment to a meal.
Step 6. Divide the dough into 8 portions and knead it into balls
Place each ball on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until your scones are golden brown.
Advice
- If you want to stuff your scones with fresh fruit, be careful not to over-manipulate it. For example, if blueberries were to break inside the dough, your scones would tend to take on a grayish color and burn more easily when baking.
- If you have chosen sweet fruit such as blueberries as a filling, add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of lemon juice to counteract the sweetness.
