Opening a bag with steam is a very old trick. It is very easy and, if you are careful, no one will notice.
Steps
Step 1. Turn on the stove
Step 2. Put a pot of water on the stove
You don't need a lot of it, but make sure you put in at least 4-5cm. If you put in too much it will take a long time before it comes to a boil, but if you put too little it will evaporate before you can open the bag.
Step 3. Wait for the water to boil
Step 4. Take the bag and hold it over the pot with the closed side down
Look for a spot on the closure of the envelope where you can put your thumb; usually the corners are easier because the envelopes there have no glue.
Step 5. Press lightly on the locking tab
Don't use too much force or you risk tearing the paper. When the steam has saturated the bag (you notice it because it becomes hot and humid), the glue will melt and you can open the bag.
Step 6. To reseal the bag, you must first wait for it to dry, and then lick the glue on the flap again as if it were new
If that doesn't work, you can use some Vinavil, but be sure to spread it carefully so it doesn't show.
Step 7. Another way to reseal the envelope
Briefly place the sticky side of the tab over the steam jet. It will become sticky again, and if you press it on the bag it will stick again. If you don't succeed on the first try, repeat the operation. Be careful not to rub the envelope, it could tear.
Advice
- Remember what it means to do things secretly. Make sure you act when no one can see you, and don't leave any traces of your actions. Use your brain.
- You could use a toothpick instead of your thumb to open the flap of the envelope. It allows you to be more precise, and is especially effective if you slide it vertically and then move it along the clasp in a screwed motion.
- Do not hold the bag over the steam jet for too long. It could be ruined and you would be found out. Hold it on the stream for about 15 seconds, then try to open it, and continue like this until it is fully open.
- Alternatively, you can use an electric kettle instead of the pot of water. The kettle creates a greater and warmer amount of steam, and you do not run the risk of burning the bag with the stove fire. Heat the water in the kettle and hold the bag about ten centimeters away to distribute the steam evenly.
- Do not leave the pot of boiling water unattended. Not only is it dangerous, but it could arouse suspicion. Empty it and put it back, or use it to cook something. Why waste all that water?
- A self-adhesive envelope is virtually impossible to open, regardless of the method.
