It takes a little more effort to evolve Sliggoo, introduced in Pokémon X and Y, than the other Pokémon, because you have to wait for it to rain to succeed. Sliggoo doesn't seem very powerful, but it is able to evolve into the dragon Goodra, a Pokémon unable to fly but capable of delivering very powerful blows.
Steps
Step 1. Get Sliggoo up to at least level 50
Goomy evolves into Sliggoo at level 40, so it means that he will have to earn another ten levels before he can evolve into Goodra. You can level up Sliggoo with battles or Rare Candies.
- Sliggoo is a Dragon-type Pokémon, so it is strong against Fire, Water, Grass and Electric. This makes it ideal for dealing with starter Pokémon and many of the wild ones, while you will have more difficulty against other Dragon-types.
- If you can get Sliggoo up to level 49, get as close to 50 as possible while continuing to gain experience, then stop. This will allow you to quickly evolve it when it rains.
Step 2. Find a spot where it rains
Sliggoo will only evolve when it rains. Rain is random, but it is more likely to be encountered in the following areas:
- X and Y: routes 8, 10, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, Yantaropoli, Batikopoli and Ponte Mosaico. In some cases you will have to wait a long time for the rain to arrive, while in others you will find it right away. Don't lose your patience and sooner or later it will start to flood. Keep Sliggoo on your team, but keep playing normally. You will likely encounter rain when you least expect it.
- Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby: It always rains on Route 120 in tall grass, so this is the perfect place to evolve Sliggoo.
- The rain created by Pioggiadanza or Piovischio does not cause evolution. It must be natural rain.
Step 3. Level up Sliggoo while it rains to evolve into Goodra
You can face a battle that earns the Pokémon enough experience to get to the next level, or you can give it a Rare Candy to save time. In any case, Sliggoo must be at least level 50 in order to evolve.
