Did you drop your iPod in the pool or in the water? Did you put it in the washing machine by mistake? If you manage to avoid a short circuit, you can still save it. Here's how to do it.
Steps
Step 1. Remove the iPod from the water and let it dry on a table
Be sure to Not turn it on, because, when turned off, most of the circuits on the board will not be connected to the power supply, so the water will not create short circuit damage.
Step 2. If your iPod has only been in the water for a few seconds, let it dry for half an hour / one hour; if, on the other hand, it has done a full wash in the washing machine, let it dry for several hours, or even a day or two
Note that afterwards the screen may be a bit blurry; it should return to normal after some time.
Step 3. When it is completely dry, connect it to your computer to recharge, or better yet, plug it into an electrical outlet to prevent damage to your computer
Step 4. Leave it for several minutes and you will see the battery icon appear; otherwise, it means that the iPod is broken
If you want, you can still wait another day to see if the situation improves.
Advice
- You can try putting your iPod in an airtight bag and filling it with uncooked rice. The rice will absorb water and moisture.
- Alternatively, if it was not on before it fell into the water, leave it in a bowl of rice for at least 24 hours (even longer). Make sure it is completely covered with rice, which, by absorbing the water, prevents damage to the system.
- Turn it off immediately.
- Try to dry it with a towel or hairdryer. The longer you dry it, the more likely it is to save.
- If you take your iPod to the store, they might replace it if it is still under warranty.
- Remove the back of the iPod and let the inside dry.
Warnings
- If you dry the iPod with the hairdryer for too long, the circuits could melt.
- These tips are the last resort to try and save your iPod. If in doubt, take it to a specialist or consider buying a new iPod.
- This method does not always work, in some cases, unfortunately, the iPod breaks and there is nothing to do.
- If the iPod fell into the water while it was on, it is very difficult to save it because the water will have entered the internal circuits.
