Everyone knows how to open blue packages and mix what's inside together. The point is to know how to pour the ingredients in the exact order and at the right time.
Steps
Step 1. Fill a pot of water three quarters full and boil
There is no precise dose for water: the pasta will be drained at the end of cooking.
Step 2. While you wait for the water to boil, prepare the other ingredients
Measure 75ml of milk and cut a stick of butter. The process requires a lot of butter: if you want a very creamy result, use the whole block.
Step 3. Pour the pasta into the water when it is fully boiling
Lower the heat to medium-high heat and stir a little so the macaroni doesn't stick together.
Step 4. When the macaroni are cooked (you can taste them, or keep an eye on the cooking times indicated on the package) drain and turn off the heat
Pour the macaroni back into the pot.
Step 5. Add the butter and mix
Keep stirring until the macaroni are well seasoned and the butter is completely melted.
Step 6. Add the cheese sauce, being careful to pour out all the contents of the package
Step 7. Pour the milk over the sauce and mix well, working from the outside in, in circular motions
Step 8. Pour everything into a bowl and enjoy your meal
Advice
- An alternative procedure is to melt the throw in a pan while you wait for the macaroni to drain well. Add the cheese sauce and some of the milk (not all!) To the butter. Pour the macaroni into the dressing and add the rest of the milk.
- If you have any macaroni left over, you can eat them later or the next day, but they won't be as good. To revive the flavor you can add a little milk and grated cheese and heat them in the microwave.
- If you see that the macaroni are already cooked, even if the cooking time has not yet finished, drain them immediately. 6 minutes of cooking is usually enough.
- Prepare the serving dish and cover it for 15-20 minutes - this will help the flavors blend, especially if you have added spices.
- If you like spicy flavors, add a tablespoon or two of Tabasco. Be careful, because it is a very spicy sauce (the result will be irresistible, however).
- If you have kids who don't like vegetables, add a can of green beans to the cooking water. The green beans will absorb the flavor of the cheese and will no longer have an overly strong vegetable flavor in the final dish.
- To make the macaroni tastier and give it a special touch, you can add a little yogurt or sour cream. You can also substitute some of the butter with one of these ingredients to lighten the dish.
- To abound with portions, add a few punches of pasta to the recipe. If you add more than a handful, though, you'll need to offset the portions by increasing the cheese as well. Kraft cheese is enough for a little more dough, but not for much.
- Add a can of tuna at the end. Drain the tuna well before adding it to the recipe. Even if you don't like tuna, try it with macaroni and cheese. Delightful. Even a little bit of pepper and lemon flavoring can add an extra touch.
-
Nutmeg Add a sprinkling of nutmeg to enrich the dish. Nutmeg enhances the flavor of the cheese.
-
Real cheese Gattugia del Cheddar at the end and mix it well with the macaroni. They will have an even richer cheesy flavor.
Warnings
- Never get away from the stove!
-
Water can leak out of the pot as it boils. If so, take it off the heat.
