Is your child crazy about Peppa Pig? Did he ever ask you to make him a cake in the shape of his favorite character? Whether it's celebrating a birthday, celebrating a holiday or just organizing something fun, this easy-to-make cake will make him happy.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Making the Cake

Step 1. Bake the cake

Start with the preparation of the cake. In a rectangular pan, put the mixture that will serve as the basis for your Peppa Pig-shaped cake.

  • Choose a base with the flavor you prefer. Chocolate, vanilla (yellow) or plain (white): all bases are perfectly compatible with the glaze. You can make it yourself or use a cake mix - it's entirely up to you.
  • Let the cake cool completely before starting to garnish.

Step 2. Make a Peppa Pig stencil

To give the cake the desired shape you first need to make a stencil. Cut it out and place it on top of the cake: you will need it to give it the right shape. There are two ways to make a stencil:

  • If you have a printer, search the internet for a color model of Peppa Pig. Several templates are available with a large image of the character on a white background. Check that the printed image is large enough to cover at least most of the surface of the cake.
  • If you don't have a printer, take a sheet of paper and trace the image from your computer screen. Or, if you know how to draw, draw Peppa's profile by copying it from your computer screen.
  • You can also choose another character from the cartoon, such as George Pig or Mr. Dinosaur.

Step 3. Cut the cake with a sharp knife following the edges of the stencil, trying to align as closely as possible with the edges of the paper

Don't worry if the result isn't perfect. You will later cover the edges with icing.

  • If the stencil tends to slip off, secure it with toothpicks.
  • If you find it difficult to make the ears, you can do it later using the cake cutouts that are left over.

Part 2 of 3: Garnish the Cake with a Simple Icing

Step 1. Make the icing

If you use a simple icing, choose whether to buy it in two different shades of pink, or white, to which you can add food coloring. If you opt for the white icing, remember to do the light pink Peppa skin and the dark pink or, alternatively, red dress. Strawberry frosting is ideal for the skin.

  • If you're using white icing, pour a few drops of pink food gel into it and mix well. Use separate containers for the two different shades of pink glazes. For the skin you need light pink, while for the dress you need a darker pink.
  • Spread the light pink frosting on the head and the dark pink one on the dress. Try to smooth the surface as much as possible.

Step 2. Draw the limbs and tail

Put the light pink icing in a pastry bag with a decorative spout, or in a plastic bag, from which you will have to cut the tip. Carefully draw the curled tail, arms and legs on the cake plate.

Step 3. Draw the outlines

Add a few drops of dark pink food coloring to the glaze. Put the dark pink icing in a pastry bag with a decorative spout, or in a plastic bag with the tip cut off. Trace the outlines of Peppa's face, ears, eyes and nose. Make the nostrils and the pink knob on the cheek.

If necessary, let yourself be guided by an image to make the features more realistic

Step 4. Make the eyes and mouth

To complete the eyes, fill the inside of the previously drawn outlines with white icing. With a syringe for sweets, then put a drop of black icing in the middle of the eyes, to make the pupils. For the mouth, use the same color as the dress instead, filling the pastry bag with icing and drawing a nice smile on Peppa's face.

Part 3 of 3: Garnish the Cake with the Sugar Paste

Step 1. Make the sugar paste

To begin, knead the icing until it softens. Then add a few drops of red food coloring or pink food gel. Knead the icing until you get a light pink mixture to use for the head. Do the same with another portion of dark pink icing to use for the dress.

  • Arrange the sugar paste on the counter or on a cutting board. Roll it out with a rolling pin until you get a thin disc.
  • Carefully arrange the disc of dough on Peppa's head. Cut out the excess dough, leaving enough to cover the sides. Do the same with a layer of dark pink colored paste for the dress. Again, remove the excess paste. Make an incision along the neck, so that the two layers of different colored pasta adhere evenly.
  • Before placing the dough on the cake, spread a thin layer of jam on the surface to prevent the icing from sliding off.
  • For ease of making, you can also buy pre-colored sugar paste.

Step 2. Make the limbs and tail

For the arms, legs and tail use a light pink icing. Make little rolls of sugar paste with your hands to make the tail, legs and arms.

Use some water to attach the limbs and tail to the dress

Step 3. Trace the contours of the face

To do this, make some paste a slightly darker shade of pink than the one used for the skin. Then make thin, long rolls, which you will use to outline Peppa's face, ears, eyes and nose. Remember to also do the nostrils and the pink knob on the cheek.

Step 4. Make the eyes and mouth

For the eyes, make two circles with the white icing. Place them on Peppa's face and give them the shape of a pair of eyes. Then put a drop of black icing in the middle of the eyes with a syringe for sweets, to make the pupils. For the mouth, instead, use a little dough of the same color as the dress, with which you will make a curved roll in the shape of a smile.

If necessary, let yourself be guided by an image to make the features more realistic

Step 5. Finished

You can complete the work by adding your child's years if you are celebrating his birthday, decorating the cake plate or putting other creative ideas into practice.
