If you're short on time, you can follow the classic barbecue sauce recipe to have it ready in 5 minutes. If you want it thicker and sweeter, try the Kansas City area version. Steps
Method 1 of 5: Classic Barbecue Sauce Ready in 5 Minutes
Step 1. Measure all the ingredients and pour them into a small saucepan
For the classic barbecue sauce recipe you need: 115ml ketchup, 3 tablespoons (45ml) of water, 1 tablespoon (15ml) of maple syrup, 2 teaspoons (10ml) of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon (5 g) of butter, 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 small pinch of black pepper.
Step 2. Mix the ingredients and heat them over medium heat
Combine the sauce ingredients, then turn on the stove and adjust the heat to medium. Keep stirring to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 3. Simmer the sauce for 3-5 minutes
Bring it to a light boil and stir it frequently as it cooks. Let it simmer gently for a few minutes. The butter will melt and the flavors will melt.
When the sauce is ready, you can use it immediately or transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days
Method 2 of 5: Kansas City Style Barbecue Sauce
Step 1. Fry the onion for 5 minutes over medium heat
Heat 2 tablespoons (28 g) of butter in a medium saucepan. When it is completely melted, add a small chopped onion and let it cook until it is soft and transparent.
Stir the onion frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot
Step 2. Add 3 cloves of garlic and let them sauté for 30 seconds
Chop the garlic and pour it into the pot along with the onion. Stir it and let it cook until it releases its good scent.
Garlic tends to burn quickly, so don't fry it for more than 30 seconds
Step 3. Add the ketchup, molasses, sugar, vinegar, mustard, chilli and pepper
For the Kansas City style barbecue sauce recipe, you need: 450ml ketchup, 115ml molasses, 65g brown sugar, 80ml apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons (30ml) mustard, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon of black pepper (freshly ground) and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Stir to mix all the sauce ingredients
Step 4. Bring the sauce to a boil, then let it simmer for 30 minutes
Heat it over high heat until it reaches a full boil. Then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for half an hour or until it has thickened, making sure to stir it frequently.
Step 5. Blend the barbecue sauce
Turn off the heat and transfer the sauce to the blender glass using a ladle or spoon. Secure the lid and blend the sauce at short intervals until it reaches a smooth, homogeneous consistency. When the sauce is ready, you can use it immediately or transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Method 3 of 5: South Carolina Barbecue Sauce
Step 1. Measure the mustard, honey, vinegar, ketchup, sugar and sauces
Pour all the ingredients into a bowl or airtight container. For the South Carolina style barbecue sauce recipe, you need: 185ml mustard, 170g honey, 60ml apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons (30ml) ketchup, 1 tablespoon (12g) brown sugar, 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of hot sauce.
Step 2. Mix the sauce ingredients
Mix them using a spoon or a whisk. Make sure the sauces and sugar are well mixed. Break up any lumps of sugar.
Step 3. Put the sauce in the refrigerator and wait at least 24 hours before using it
Cover the bowl or container and let the sauce rest in the refrigerator for at least a day.
Once ready, you can keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
Method 4 of 5: Texan Style Barbecue Sauce
Step 1. Measure all the ingredients and pour them into a small saucepan
For the Texan style barbecue sauce recipe you need: 400ml ketchup, 120ml plus 2 tablespoons (30ml) of water, 60ml plus 1 tablespoon (15ml) of apple cider vinegar, 60ml plus 1 tablespoon (15ml) ml) of white wine vinegar, 10 g of brown sugar, 35 ml of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of cumin powder, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of sea salt and 1 teaspoon and 1 / 2 black pepper (coarsely ground).
Step 2. Stir and heat the sauce over medium heat
Keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved completely. If the sauce starts to boil, reduce the heat, otherwise the sugar may burn. When the sugar has dissolved, the sauce is ready.
Step 3. Use or store the barbecue sauce
Turn off the heat and use the sauce as you like. You can pour it into a gravy boat and bring it to the table or, if you prefer, you can use it to glaze or marinate the meat, for example to flavor and soften the chicken before cooking. If you want to keep it, transfer it to an airtight container or bottle and store it in the refrigerator. You will need to consume it within a month.
Method 5 of 5: Alabama Style White Barbecue Sauce
Step 1. Measure the mayonnaise, vinegar, garlic, mustard, horseradish and spices
Pour all the ingredients into the blender glass. For the Alabama-style barbecue sauce recipe, you need: 350ml mayonnaise, 60ml white wine vinegar, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of pepper (coarsely ground), 1 tablespoon (15ml) of mustard spicy, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 teaspoons (10 g) of horseradish.
If you don't have a blender, you can use a normal food processor
Step 2. Blend the ingredients for about a minute
Secure the lid on the blender and turn it on at short intervals. Keep blending until the sauce has the consistency you want. If you want it to stay thick, blend it coarsely.
Step 3. Use or store the sauce
This white, creamy barbecue sauce is great with chips or fried chicken. You can also use it as a salad dressing and store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a week.
