After opening a bottle of Prosecco, champagne or sparkling wine, some of the effervescence tends to disappear. The sparkling portion of the wine is dissolved carbon dioxide, in order to increase aromas and reduce sweetness. Experts on the subject argue that there are not many ways to top up a bottle of champagne with the guarantee of prolonging its goodness. Read the tutorial to find out more.
Steps
Step 1. Pour the champagne immediately after opening it
Step 2. Then immediately place it in an ice bucket or refrigerator
If you intend to finish the bottle in a short time, it is not necessary to plug it.
Step 3. Keep it cool
The only really effective way to preserve the aromas of champagne is cold, so place it in the refrigerator or in the ice bucket. When heated, the liquid releases the contained gas.
Step 4. Close the bottle with a special champagne stopper
Do a search on the web or in a specialized store, a champagne cork has a special rubber gasket and has a normally low cost (about 5 euros). Once corked, the champagne can be stored for up to 3-5 days.
Step 5. Do not plug the bottle with the original cork
If you keep the bottle cold, you can leave it open, or stick a metal spoon into the neck of the bottle. Studies have shown that flavors last longer than when the bottle is covered with plastic or a cap.
Step 6. Drink your wine as soon as possible
The gas will continue to disperse over time. The release of gas could cause an increase in the sweetness level of the wine. Drink it within 3-5 days of opening.
