The following is a basic guide to founding a student association.
Steps
Step 1. Choose a name for your association
Choose between two or three letters of the Greek alphabet. These letters should represent Greek words that represent the values your association wants to embody.
Step 2. Decide what your association wants to represent
What do you believe in? Why do you want to create this association? What are your beliefs?
Step 3. Choose a suitable Latin phrase that summarizes the values you believe in
Step 4. Choose people who cover various roles in the hierarchy of the association:
president, vice president and so on.
Step 5. Create a charter for your association and decide which rules the members will follow
These should include topics such as academic performance, behavior to keep, public relations, etc.
Step 6. Take the opinion of all members into consideration when drafting and making changes to the statute
This is essential to found an association that works.
Step 7. Create a design for your vestments
Step 8. Develop a method for selecting potential new members
You must have a well-defined set of criteria such as school average, if they have volunteered and any other qualities you deem desirable in the members of the association.
Step 9. Invite the most eligible candidates to join the association
Step 10. Create a selection process to determine whether or not potential new members are worthy of joining your association
Step 11. Submit those who pass this selection to initiation rituals that embody the values your association stands for
Step 12. Invite alumni to come back to visit every year and squeeze them to make a donation
Advice
- Creating an association from scratch can be very difficult, because you would receive external help only if you want to open a branch attached to an existing association. If you want to create your own association, you will have very few resources at your disposal.
- If you are looking to start the branch at an existing association, check out other articles on wikiHow for information on student associations and find out how to contact an association representative before the semester begins.
