The objective in a teaching plan establishes the purpose of a lesson. This is the most important phase in developing a teaching plan. Steps 1-5 form a statement consisting of a single sentence, relating to the purpose of your teaching plan.
Steps
Method 1 of 1: Write an Educational Goal
Step 1. Determine WHO you should contact
For example: "The student will have to"
Step 2. Write down the type of BEHAVIOR you deem useful, which demonstrates the student's activity (choose from the list of verbs you find in the "Tips" section for higher levels of comprehension
For example, "list"
Step 3. Include what CONTENT you want the student to learn
For example: "the effects of alcohol on the body"
Step 4. Think about the CONDITIONS, or how the student will achieve the goal
For example: "with the textbook open, after watching a movie, using a model of the heart"
Step 5. Establish a PERFORMANCE STANDARD - the criteria for determining that performance is acceptable
For example: "this includes at least two warning signs."
Advice
- HIGH LEVEL UNDERSTANDING - change, compute, demonstrate, work, display, use, solve, highlight, divide, discriminate, draw up a diagram, categorize, distinguish, combine, compile, compose, create, design, plan, produce, justify, evaluate, comment, compare, support, conclude, and refute.
- LOW-LEVEL UNDERSTANDING - define, recall, describe, identify, list, recite, explain, summarize, interpret, rewrite, evaluate, consult with someone, translate, paraphrase.
- This is a Magerian variant (from Robert Frank Mager) of the ABCD model.
