Steps
Method 1 of 4: Make a Vegan Milkshake with Almond Milk
Step 1. Pour the almond milk into the blender
If you like, you can use vanilla or chocolate flavored one. The healthiest variety is the one with no added sugar. The other ingredients will take care of making the milkshake sweet.
If you want the milkshake to have a very creamy texture, you can add 240ml of low-fat yogurt and reduce the amount of almond milk. Use only half of it (175ml). For a completely vegan recipe, you can use a yogurt made with soy, almond or coconut milk
Step 2. Slice 2 medium-sized bananas and put them in the blender
If banana isn't one of your favorite fruits, you can replace it with one you like. The only advice is to use a fruit with an equally dense texture and a lot of flavor, for example mango.
For an extra creamy milkshake, freeze bananas or other fruits
Step 3. Add some strawberries for a healthier milkshake
You can use up to 300g. If you don't like strawberries, you can replace them with another fruit. The larger ones, such as peaches, should be sliced before being put in the blender. Your options include:
- Blueberries;
- Mango;
- Peaches;
- Raspberries.
Step 4. Add ice
Use 5 to 8 cubes, depending on the size. Ice helps make the milkshake thicker and creamier. If you've used frozen fruit, you can avoid adding it, unless you want a really thick milkshake.
Step 5. Add a touch of sweetness with the agave syrup
If you don't like it, you can use a different sweetener, such as stevia. Those who do not follow a strictly vegan diet can also use honey.
If the almond milk is flavored, for example with vanilla or chocolate, it is not necessary to add honey or any other sweetener
Step 6. Add some more flavorings if you prefer
You can use almond extract to emphasize the milk flavor at the base of the milkshake or you can add some of your favorite spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg are among the most appropriate.
- For a chocolate milkshake, add 2-3 tablespoons (30-45 g) of cocoa powder.
- Add 1 tablespoon (15g) of flaxseed for added density and fiber.
- You can also accentuate the good taste of milk by adding 2-3 tablespoons (30-45 g) of almond butter. Use the salty one if you want to avoid the milkshake from being too sweet.
Step 7. Blend the ingredients on low speed
Depending on the type and quantity of the ingredients, it will take about 30-45 seconds to give the milkshake a smooth and homogeneous texture. From time to time you may need to remove the lid and use a silicone spatula to push the ingredients stuck to the sides of the blender towards the blades.
Step 8. Pour the milkshake into the glasses
You can make it even more inviting by decorating the glass with leftover fruit. Also add a colored straw.
Step 9. Serve and enjoy the milkshake
Method 2 of 4: Make a Chocolate Milkshake with Almond Milk
Step 1. Pour 350g of chocolate ice cream into the blender or food processor
You have to let it soften for a few minutes at room temperature, otherwise you will have a hard time blending it.
Step 2. Add the milk and vanilla yogurt
If you don't like the taste of vanilla or prefer the milkshake not to be too sweet, use plain yogurt.
Step 3. Add the almond butter and vanilla extract
It must be a smooth and velvety butter so as not to alter the consistency of the milkshake. Alternatively, you can use peanut butter.
- You can use salted almond butter if you are concerned that the milkshake will turn out to be too sweet. The salt will balance the sweetness of the other ingredients.
- If you don't like vanilla, you can use a different sweetener, such as sugar or stevia.
Step 4. Cap the blender and turn it on
Blend the ingredients until they are perfectly blended. Remove the lid from time to time and use a silicone spatula to push down any ingredients that are stuck to the walls. This way they will be captured by the blades and incorporated into the milkshake.
Step 5. Pour the milkshake into 4 tall glasses and add the chocolate flakes for decoration
You can slice the chocolate into thin flakes using the vegetable peeler or the side of the grater you use to chop the potatoes. If you don't have any of these tools available, you can simply use the knife.
Step 6. Add a straw to each glass and serve the milkshake
Method 3 of 4: Make a Chocolate Milkshake with Almond Milk
Step 1. Pour two scoops of vanilla ice cream into the blender or food processor
Save the third ball for later. It will serve you as a decoration.
Step 2. Add the milk and honey
If you prefer, you can use a different sweetener instead of honey, such as agave syrup.
Step 3. Add the almond butter and flaked almonds
The butter should have a smooth and velvety consistency, so you don't have to blend it for a long time and to give the milkshake a homogeneous density. If you want, you can use salted almond butter to counteract the extreme sweetness of the other ingredients.
Step 4. Turn on the blender
Blend the ingredients until they are perfectly blended. From time to time, remove the lid and use a silicone spatula to push down any ingredients that are stuck to the walls. The milkshake must have a smooth and homogeneous texture, you must not find large pieces of almonds while drinking it.
Step 5. Pour it into a tall glass, leaving some room for the third scoop of ice cream
If you want to share the milkshake with a friend, pour it into two smaller glasses.
Step 6. Add the third scoop of ice cream and some other flaked almonds as decoration
If you have decided to share the milkshake with someone, divide the scoop of ice cream between the two glasses. If you want, you can pour honey or a syrup over it to make the drink even more inviting and tasty.
Step 7. Add a colored straw to each glass and enjoy the milkshake
Method 4 of 4: Other Tasty Variations
Step 1. Add almonds or oat flakes
They are crunchy and high in fiber and protein. You can use up to 35g of almonds and 40g of oat flakes. They go well especially with strawberries and bananas.
Step 2. Combine the taste of vanilla with that of ripe bananas
Try using two frozen ripe bananas, 240ml unsweetened almond milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon (15g) of almond butter, and 1 teaspoon of chia seeds. Slice the bananas and then blend all the ingredients until they are perfectly blended. Pour the milkshake into glasses and serve immediately.
With these doses, you will get two servings of milkshake. Use two tall glasses and colored straws
Step 3. Combine peanut butter, cocoa, and bananas to get your fill of flavor and protein
You will need 4 frozen and sliced bananas, 2 tablespoons (30 g) of peanut butter, 2 tablespoons (30 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder and 350 ml of vanilla flavored almond milk. Blend the ingredients until they are perfectly blended, then pour the milkshake into the glasses and serve immediately.
With these doses, you will get three servings of milkshake. Use tall glasses and colored straws
Step 4. Use a yogurt made with almond milk if you want to avoid dairy products
Blend two frozen and sliced bananas, 60ml almond milk, 65g yogurt and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend the ingredients until they are perfectly blended and then serve the milkshake immediately.
With these doses, you'll get a large serving of milkshake or two medium servings
Step 5. Make a coffee milkshake using ice cream and almond milk
Put in the blender 200 g of ice, 250 g of vanilla ice cream and 120 ml of almond milk, add two tablespoons (30 g) of sugar, two tablespoons (10 g) of cocoa or vanilla flavored sugar and finally a teaspoon of soluble coffee. Blend the ingredients until they are perfectly blended and then pour the milkshake into the glasses. Serve it right away.
With these doses, you will get two servings of milkshake. Use two tall glasses and colored straws
Advice
- If the milkshake is too thick, add more almond milk.
- If it's too liquid, add more ice or a few slices of banana. Alternatively, you can use frozen fruit.
- Cut larger fruits, such as bananas and peaches, into small pieces. Berries, such as blueberries and raspberries, can be used whole.
- You can use any type of sweetener: from the more traditional ones, like sugar and honey, to the more sophisticated ones, like agave syrup and stevia.
- If you are vegan or lactose intolerant, be careful when using cocoa. In some cases it may not be pure and with the addition of powdered milk.
- Using fresh seasonal fruit you will get the best possible taste.
- If you are not vegan or lactose intolerant, you can add ice cream or yogurt to any recipe.
- If you don't have a blender, use the food processor. The blades must be made of metal to be able to crush ice and harder ingredients.
