Would you like to become one of the millions of users who use Instagram every day? Then create a free account now! You can do this from your favorite mobile platform, or, if you prefer traditional methods, from your computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using a Mobile Device
Step 1. Open your phone's app store
You need to download the Instagram app to create and log into your mobile account.
On iOS devices, the app you are looking for is called "App Store"; on Android phones and tablets, use the "Google Play Store"
Step 2. Search for the "Instagram" app
On iOS and Android platforms, you can do this by pressing the magnifying glass icon inside the store, then typing the word you want to search for.
Step 3. Press the button to download Instagram
Since it is a free application, you will see the "Get" (iOS) or "Install" (Android) buttons next to its name.
Depending on the speed of your internet connection, it may take a few minutes to download the app
Step 4. Open Instagram
You can do this by pressing the app icon.
Step 5. Press the "Sign Up" button
A form will open where you need to enter your account information.
Step 6. Enter your email address in the field you see on the screen
Press "Next" when done.
- Make sure you choose an email address you have access to.
- If you prefer, you can log in with your Facebook credentials. By pressing the "Login with Facebook" option, Instagram will ask you to login to your Facebook profile (if you have not already done so).
Step 7. Enter your username and password
You must confirm the password twice to make sure it is correct.
Make sure you choose a username you like before clicking "Next"
Step 8. Enter optional information
You can add a profile picture, a short bio, or a link to your personal website. You can change this information at any time within the app by pressing "Edit Profile" at the top of the screen.
Step 9. Press "Done"
You have just created your account!
Method 2 of 3: Using a Computer
Step 1. Open your favorite browser
On a computer, Instagram's features are limited compared to the mobile version of the app, but you still have the option to create an account from the official site.
Step 2. Open the Instagram website
To do this, click the previous link.
Step 3. Enter your login information on the right side of the page
You need the following data:
- Email address.
- Full name.
- Username.
- Password.
- You can also click on "Login with Facebook" at the top of the form where you have to enter your information, in order to create an account with your Facebook name and password. This allows you to link the two accounts.
Step 4. Click the "Sign Up" button
You will find it in the lower part of the box; pressing it will create the account.
Step 5. Click the person silhouette icon in the upper right corner of the screen
Your account page will open.
Step 6. Click the "Edit Profile" item
You should see it to the right of your Instagram name, at the top of the page.
Step 7. Add the information you want to share
You can enter your profile picture, a short bio, or a link to your personal website. Once done, click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. You have successfully created your Instagram account!
Method 3 of 3: Customize Your Instagram Profile
Step 1. Press the "Edit Profile" button on your account page
If you want to make your profile unique, the best way to do it is to personalize it.
You can also add the information you want when setting up your account on a mobile device
Step 2. Press "Add Profile Picture"
If you've already chosen an image, the voice will say "Change Profile Picture". You have several options available to upload the photo of your choice:
- Import from Facebook: choose a photo from your Facebook profile photo. To use this feature, your Instagram and Facebook accounts must be linked.
- Import from Twitter: Choose a photo from your Twitter profile. To use this feature, your Instagram and Twitter accounts must be linked.
- Take a Photo: Take a photo on the fly to use as your profile picture.
- Select from Library: Choose a photo from your camera roll.
Step 3. Upload your profile photo from your chosen source
This way your Instagram account will have a unique image and will be more recognizable than one without a photo.
If your Instagram page is dedicated to a brand or business, you can upload a logo
Step 4. Press the "Name" field to add the name
Usually users enter their full name there, but if you prefer you can just put their first or last name.
If you are creating a business profile, you can use your business name instead of yours
Step 5. Press the "Username" field to add a custom username
This is the name that other Instagram users will see. To make the profile more accessible, choose a username related to the content you mainly propose on your account.
If the username you want is in use, Instagram will offer you a different one
Step 6. Press the "Website" field to add your personal site URL
If you have a dedicated website (for example, a page where you post your personal content, your photos or where you promote your business), enter the URL in this field and it will appear under your profile information. This is a great way to promote your work without paying for advertisements.
Step 7. Press the "Bio" field to add information about yourself
Write a short paragraph describing what content you offer on Instagram and what your intentions are; for example, if your account will be primarily a collection of nature photos, mention this in the "Bio" field.
In this field you can also enter the hashtags related to your content, in order to make it easier for users interested in the photos you propose to search for your account
Step 8. Check your personal information
You will find them at the bottom of the page; only you can see them, because they refer to your account registration. In this section, you can change the following items:
- Email address.
- Telephone number.
- Sex.
Step 9. Press "Done" in the upper right corner
The changes will be saved.
Advice
Choose a username that you like and that is appropriate; if your account becomes very well known, you will regret an embarrassing or unoriginal name
Warnings
- Make sure all the images you post were taken by you or that you have cited the source.
- As with all online services, never reveal your password to people you don't trust.
