Have you ever seen those kiosks and shops that deal with nail art in a shopping center? Have you noticed if, among the services they offered, there was the possibility of applying stamps to the nails? The saleswoman did your nails perfectly and convinced you to buy a set of personal stamps, but you don't think you can apply them yourself? Do not worry! They didn't try to scam you, nail stencils really work. Read this article to learn how to use them.
Steps
Step 1. Choose the design you want to apply
Choose your favorite design from those shown on the small metal plates.
Step 2. Choose your nail polish
Most stamp sets come with at least one 'special' enamel bottle to use. Choose one of these colors (white is probably the best choice, as it will stand out on most colors).
Step 3. Cover the design with nail polish
This is not the right time to skimp - don't worry about wasting your nail polish. Trace the design over the metal plate with a large layer of color.
Step 4. Remove excess polish
It is one of the most important points of this process. Take the small metal plate (the “scraper”) and go over it over the enamel-covered design. Apply a lot of pressure and pass it over the design several times, removing all the excess polish. If you do this correctly, you will be able to see the drawing clearly.
Step 5. Apply the stamp, part 1
The secret is to apply the stamp FAST! As there won't be much polish left on the stamps, it will only take a few seconds for it to dry, so it's very important that you are FAST. Take the stamp (the tool with the round rubber part on the bottom) and press it on the drawing. Press as hard as you can, in order to transfer the glaze present in the crevices and niches of the design as well.
Step 6. Apply the stamp, part 2
Now is the time to act fast! Remove the stamp from the plate and apply it quickly on the chosen nail. The secret is to roll it around the nail (since it is not a flat surface, but has a slightly domed shape).
Step 7. Take a deep breath
Check your nail art. If you have performed the procedure correctly, the design should be clearly reproduced on the nail. If so, congratulations! You did! If not, repeat from step 3 until you get the desired result. Practice is needed, but if you choose to take some time to learn, your work will be as good as a professional's! Once you have a design that you are happy with, repeat from step 3 for the other nails you wish to decorate.
Advice
- At first it is best to apply the nail art on 'bare nails' (ie without nail polish). In this way, if you make a mistake, you will not have to repaint the nail from scratch.
- After completing each drawing, clean the tools. Take some acetone, or another type of detergent, and some cotton wool or make-up remover pads, then clean the excess nail polish from the scraper, stamp and metal plate. This will prevent random drops of nail polish from ending up on your design, ruining it.
- Your nails will only become perfect with practice !!!
- Remember to act fast!
