Mango is a tropical fruit that is enjoyed all over the world. You can eat it plain, add it to a fruit salad or main course; however, you must first peel it the right way. Follow these instructions to do it the easiest way.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: With a Knife
Step 1. Place the mango vertically on the cutting board
Hold it by the stem with one hand, it should be on the tip.
Step 2. With a very sharp knife make a shallow incision under the peel, right on the top of the fruit
Grasp the knife firmly with your free hand.
Step 3. Slice a thin strip of mango, cutting away from your body
The strip must reach the cutting board.
Try to make thin, shallow cuts to avoid wasting too much pulp
Step 4. Repeat the process until you have peeled all the fruit
Finally, remove all the peel residues.
Method 2 of 3: With a potato peeler
Step 1. Put the mango on the cutting board
Step 2. With the peeler remove portions of the peel until you have removed all of it
Use the same technique you would use for a cucumber.
- Grab the fruit from the top or side and run the peeler away from your body.
- Once all the mango is peeled, there will only be peel on the top and bottom.
Step 3. Use a knife to remove the last residue
Method 3 of 3: With Your Hands
Step 1. Choose a ripe mango
You can tell if it's ready to eat by touching and smelling it. Perfectly ripe mangoes are soft and give off a sweet, fruity aroma.
This method only works if the fruit is very soft
Step 2. Put the mango on the cutting board
This way you avoid getting dirty everywhere.
Step 3. Find the end of the stem
If it's not there, you shouldn't have a problem figuring out where it popped up before it was removed. The stem is a kind of small black protrusion in one of the two ends of the fruit.
Slowly peel the peel off one section of the mango. If the method doesn't work, use a knife to cut into the skin and pulp, but then continue with your fingers
Step 4. When peeling a mango, try to remove whole pieces of peel
Make sure that there is not too much pulp sticking to the fruit.
If you have difficulty with this procedure, eat the pulp that remains on the peel and enjoy
Step 5. Flip the mango and peel the other side
You can turn it both on the right and left side, the important thing is that you can continue to remove large sections of the peel.
If your hands are starting to feel slippery from the juice of the fruit and you can't keep your grip, dry them with a cloth or kitchen paper
Step 6. Remove all peel residues
Handle the fruit gently to avoid crushing or damaging it.
Step 7. You should now have a peeled mango
Stick it with your fork and eat it without getting dirty with its juice.
You can eat it as it is or slice it
