Here are some simple and clear ideas on how to cool down and take no chances in hot weather. Many of these tips are practical and can be implemented without having access to electricity, so they will be especially useful if a blackout occurs.
Steps
Step 1. Drink plenty of water to make up for lost fluids due to sweating
Step 2. Try not to move
This is not the right time to do physical activity, try your hand at a sport or run. If you really have to, better dedicate yourself to it in the evening, when the sun goes down and the temperatures drop.
Step 3. Stay in the shade
Read a good book, stay seated, or take a nap. Moving will make you feel hotter and hotter.
Step 4. Open the windows and let the breeze in
Use mosquito nets to keep insects away if they are a problem.
Step 5. Go swimming
If you can, do it in a shade of water.
Step 6. Take a cold shower or bath
Just sprinkle some water on yourself to find some relief. You can also dip a sponge into cold water and place it on your face and forehead to cool down. Use wet towels to cool your whole body and wrap your legs, torso and arms.
Step 7. Wet your hair with cold water every half hour
Step 8. Use fans
They allow air to circulate and generate a slight cooling effect. Put a wet face towel on the fan to get a mini air conditioning effect. Remember to only place it on the fan's outer cage, so it doesn't get trapped between the fans. Take it off before you leave the room.
Step 9. Try to get used to the heat
Try to do this without relying too much on fans. This way, you can become more independent, and this is very important should a summer blackout occur.
Step 10. Apply sunscreen before you leave the house
The protective function of this lotion lasts only a few hours, and becomes less effective after entering the water. Reapply frequently for better coverage. However, this product alone is not enough. Always combine it with a hat and long-sleeved dresses and stay out of the sun during the hottest times of the day.
Step 11. Try running between sprinklers
Step 12. Put on a hat and don't expose your skin too much
Long-sleeved shirts made of cotton, hemp or other natural fabrics will help you deflect the sun's rays and protect your skin. A wide-brimmed hat is essential to protect the face and create some shade on the head.
Step 13. Stay indoors or in the shade when the sun is up
Do not go out unless necessary between 11 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, as this is when the sun is beating down harder than ever.
Step 14. Use a sponge
Dip it in cold water. Barely squeeze it and rest it on your neck. Repeat as needed.
Step 15. Put the inside of your wrists under running water
If the main veins feel a sensation of cold or heat, this will be felt by the whole body.
Step 16. Get an ice pack
Place it on your forehead for 30 minutes.
Step 17. Chew ice cubes
It's like drinking water, only colder!
Step 18. When you go out, repeatedly spray cold water on yourself using a bottle with a spray can
It keeps you cool and gives you relief.
Step 19. Every half hour you can take a wet handkerchief and place it on your head for about five minutes
Relieves the feeling of heat in this area and will make you feel good!
