Tiramisu is probably the most indulgent Italian dessert of all. This article outlines a quick and easy way to make one and wow your friends.
Ingrediants
- 3 large eggs
- 500 grams of Mascarpone
- Expressed
- savoiardi biscuits
- (optional) 1 small glass of cognac
- Cocoa powder
- Sugar (to taste)
Steps
Step 1. Break the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites (use a large bowl for the egg whites and a smaller bowl for the yolks)
Make sure there are no traces of yolk in the egg white as you will not be able to whip it well.
Step 2. Whisk the egg yolks with an electric whisk and add the sugar gradually, until you get a thick, creamy and light yellow mixture
Step 3. In another bowl, add about 500 grams of Mascarpone and mix it lightly
Now take the electric whisk and mix the egg yolks with the Mascarpone.
Step 4. Wash and dry the whisk and reuse it to whisk the egg whites until stiff
Continue adding the mascarpone mixture and mix until the mixture has no lumps.
Step 5. Set the bowl aside
Make strong coffee and let it cool.
Step 6. Line up some ladyfingers in a fairly deep bowl and pour about 2/3 of the coffee you have prepared over them
Step 7. Spread half of the egg and mascarpone mixture on top and a generous sprinkling of cocoa powder
If you want to make the dessert sweeter, use some soluble, sweetened cocoa powder.
Step 8. Dip more ladyfingers into the rest of the coffee (don't worry if you run out of it, you can always make more) and carefully place them on the cocoa layer
Step 9. Spread the rest of the egg and mascarpone mixture on top and spread more cocoa on top
Step 10. Leave to rest in the fridge for about 3 hours and serve
Advice
- Use fresh eggs. Tiramisu will last longer.
- For a variation, you can replace the espresso with Camp Coffee mixed with water. It does not need any preparation, add Amaretto or Marsala to taste.
