A recreation space in the house is a place dedicated to relaxation and recreation. It can be anything you want: a room to get together with the whole family, a space to entertain guests or a sanctuary to enjoy some solitude. The first thing to do is to find the right environment, suitable for being a "refuge". If you plan to put valuables in your outdoor play space, you run the risk that someone can come in and take them away. To avoid this, make the shelter safe and sheltered from the elements. If you build a garden shed, make sure it can accommodate at least two people. Build it with large branches and make it solid and stable. If you have a room in the house - or part of a room - free, you can always turn it into your recreational space, using the objects that are already there.

Step 1. Decide who will be able to use the recreation space
Step 2. Think about what activities you and your family could do in the room
It doesn't have to be a big space. Here are some activities you could do in your recreation space:
- Rest and relax.
- Reading and writing.
- To play.
- Art and hobby.
- Being in solitude.
- Use computers.
- Watching television.
- Have fun.
Step 3. Find a space
A recreation space can be created in the guest room, in a corner of the living room or in a part of any room. Choose from the available spaces the one that seems most suitable for the purpose.
Do not exclude spaces that you think might be useful. A shed, a garage, an attic, a cellar, an enclosed porch or an area adjacent to the kitchen or living room are all spaces that can become places of recreation
Step 4. Remove all excess items, especially if they are irrelevant to the purpose of your space
Step 5. Repair, clean or redecorate the room before filling it with the things you will need
For example, does the room need a new floor or paint to be a good recreation area? Just do it.
Step 6. Add a focal point to the room
This is the activity that you and your family love most together. The focal point could be a pool table, or a desk; anything that will lend itself to the purpose of the room.
Step 7. Add seats
They can be of different shapes and sizes, use an informal and comfortable style. Armchairs and loveseats are fine, but don't rule out bean bags, pillows, hammocks, and other comfortable seating items.
Also consider patio or garden furniture. These tables and chairs are very comfortable and beautiful and strong enough to last
Step 8. Add lighting
You can choose low lights, to give the place a living room atmosphere, or good lighting to be able to read or devote yourself to art.
Step 9. Bring your favorite items into the room
You could add a small refrigerator, hammock, or bench.
Step 10. Add or rearrange objects in the room
If you are going to listen to music or watch DVDs, play board games, hobbyists or read books, you will need to organize the space. You can use an existing cabinet, or add shelves, racks, niches and more.
Step 11. Create a work or play space
For the children, include a corner to keep toys in addition to the play area. For adults, find a space to arrange hobby items, a work table, a computer or writing desk, etc.
Advice
- Make sure you have a chance to do fun recreational things. If you enjoy watching television, put a television in the recreation room. Add a console and computer with a Wi-Fi connection if you also want to play video games. Or maybe you just want to read books. Always try to have a place to arrange some books in your recreation room.
- Will the activities in the recreation area be noisy? Then choose a secluded place, where the noise will not reach and annoy the other inhabitants of the house.
- This is also a place to take refuge when you need it, where you can think and a good place to play hide and seek.
- Plan and design your recreation space. Choose solid, casual furniture that you can use every day without having to keep it excessively clean.
- Add music. Are there musical people in the family? Can the recreation area contain musical instruments? If not, there will always be room for a CD player. But if the recreation space is located in a forest, you may risk not finding your personal items again.
- Recreational space must be designed to accommodate your needs and those of your family.
