Have you ever wished you could subcool the water under your eyes? Read this super coolant article to find out how!
Steps
Step 1. Get a bottle of water, preferably purified or distilled
Step 2. If you live in a place where the outside temperature is below freezing, leave the water bottle outside for about three hours
Otherwise, place it in the freezer for about two and a half hours (the time required varies according to both the size of the freezer and the temperature at which you have set it).
Step 3. Gently pull out the water bottle
If it froze you did not get the desired result.
Step 4. Shake the bottle a couple of times until you notice that the water begins to freeze
Step 5. Congratulations, you have managed to get subcooled water
Method 1 of 1: Alternative Procedure
Step 1. Pour 20ml of purified or distilled water into a glass
Step 2. Place the glass in a bowl higher than the glass itself
Step 3. Fill the bowl with ice to surround the glass (NEVER put ice in the glass)
Step 4. Pour 30g of salt on the ice (DO NOT pour it into the glass, the water must remain as clean as possible)
Step 5. Optional step:
insert a clean thermometer into the glass, or add regular tap water to purified water. When the tap water freezes, the purified water will have become very cold.
Step 6. Wait about 15 minutes or until the thermometer indicates that the water temperature is below freezing
If the water has frozen, you have not achieved the desired result.
Step 7. Throw an ice cube into the glass, see what happens
Step 8. Congratulations, you were able to get subcooled water
Advice
The subcooled water is still drinkable and you can also use it to prepare a granita
Warnings
- Don't leave the bottle in the freezer for too long!
- Frozen water expands, so make sure the bottle isn't completely full when you put it back in the freezer.
