A nineties themed party in sight or the Beverly Hills reruns made you want to dress like the teenagers of those years? Whatever your motivation, read on to know what to wear!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Trends
Step 1. Focus on grunge, a scruffy look but still full of charisma (by the way it's back in fashion)
Its bases are three: denim, band t-shirts and leather jackets.
-
Wear loose fitting clothing.
-
Put on jeans that are ripped, bleached or destroyed in some way.
-
Pierce or tear other garments as well.
-
If you don't want to wear real leather pieces, opt for faux leather.
-
Leave your hair messy.
-
Get t-shirts from bands like Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Led Zeppelin, AC / DC, and The Doors.
Step 2. A doll look
Babydoll-like dresses were very popular during the nineties and usually featured short sleeves and floral prints. During the day they were combined with boots, sneakers and denim jackets.
-
He also wears tight velvet clothes (especially burgundy and black).
-
Wear tops that leave the belly uncovered, tank tops, cardigans and t-shirts two sizes smaller.
-
Use butterfly-shaped hair clips. Pull the front tuft back and secure it with these clips so it will look like you're wearing a butterfly headband.
Step 3. Go for plaid sweaters, skirts and dresses
Wear such a shirt to complete the outfit or tie it around your waist.
Step 4. Put on long and short dungarees
For an extra touch, leave one of the straps loose.
Step 5. Add a vest over the shirts and dresses
Those of the nineties were of all colors and patterns. Go for denim, crochet and floral prints.
Step 6. Revisit the 1970s
In the 1990s, there was a revival of this period, with a lot of hippie and disco inspirations.
-
Wear knot-dyed clothing, accessories that echo the sign of peace and flowers.
-
Put on the flared pants. Try them in jeans or corduroy. Add a patch with a peace sign or a flower and you'll be perfect!
-
Wear platform shoes that are reminiscent of those of the seventies. There are different types: sandals, high heels, wedges and even sneakers.
Part 2 of 3: Shoes and Accessories
Step 1. Fit high and multicolor sneakers, such as Converse, Nike, Reebok and Vans
If you prefer the grunge look, wear those that are broken, muddy, stained and with holes in them.
Step 2. Wear boots like Doc Martens
Step 3. Put on some Jellies, available in any color imaginable:
purple, pink, green, gray, blue …
Step 4. Put on wide and colorful bands, maybe matched with the clothes
Step 5. Wear black felt hats, baseball hats or with giant flowers and bows attached
Part 3 of 3: Where to Buy
Step 1. The most popular brands to achieve this look are JNCO, Tommy Hilfiger, Hypercolor, Umbro, Calvin Klein, Roxy, Keds, Reebok, Guess and Nike, among others
Step 2. Find pieces at the thrift store so you can find authentic clothes
In addition, second-hand garments are cheaper.
Step 3. Shop on eBay, Etsy, and other sites that feature vintage pieces
Step 4. Plan a foray into your parents' or older brothers' and sisters' closet or ask your friends
